ACID is back with a measured vengeance on their second full-length release titled, Tales of Contempt. Available on Main Man Records, the disc is to be distributed worldwide by MVD Entertainment Group. Tales of Contempt is the follow-up to Singer/Guitarist Bobby Kennedy’s critically acclaimed eponymous debut, and it resides within its musical universe of past and stylistically present punk rock influences. Creating a fresh and gloriously rebellious form of raw rock-and-roll communication, Kennedy’s Tales of Contempt shines beacon bright in a current musical scene of directionless drift.
Tales of Contempt features a genuine batch of tumultuous tracks that feature a respectful nod to the past influential greatness with the twisted lyrical power from the mind of Kennedy.
With songs such as the sarcastically poignant “Rock & Roll Genocide,” and the Manchester-groove influence of “Outta Sight” and Beatles-meets-Ramones hybrid of “Crushing My Heart,” Kennedy and crew put you deep in the seats of a wild and rambunctious ride.
Other standout tracks include the garage rave-up “I Don’t” and Acid’s ripping cover of Love & Rocket’s “Motorcycle,” a song for which the band has also produced an ear (and eye) catching music video.
As John Pfeiffer from The Aquarian Weekly recently said, “If the Sex Pistols and Oasis had a child out of wedlock, that bastard son would be called Tales of Contempt”.
Bobby Kennedy is no stranger within the entertainment industry. When not writing for television (Sex in the City, King of the Hill, CSI, Law and Order) and movies, (Zoolander, Fled) he has also logged time composing and engineering for Captain Sensible, (The Damned) as well as holding down guitar duties for David Johansen’s band.
Acid will be hitting the road this summer season to support the July 9 release date of Tales of Contempt, so look for them in your town soon.
Available on CD and Vinyl, with digital download card, Tales of Contempt will be available in stores and at www.mainmanrecords.com as well as Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Amazon and iTunes. A limited pressing on orange vinyl will be available for a short time also.
Acid’s current lineup features Bobby and Johnny Firestone on guitars, Vincent Priceless on bass and Joey Chyb on Drums.
